Progressive Leasing offers flexible payment options designed to fit different pay schedules. Understanding how the payment structure works โ and how to actively manage it โ helps you avoid late fees, returned payment charges, and unnecessary interest accrual on the standard 12-month term.
Payment Frequency Options
Progressive Leasing supports four payment frequencies. You choose your preferred frequency during the application:
- Weekly: Payments drawn once per week on your scheduled day
- Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks): Payments drawn every 14 days, typically aligned to a bi-weekly payroll
- Semi-monthly (twice a month): Payments drawn twice per month on set dates, typically aligned to a semi-monthly payroll (e.g., the 1st and 15th)
- Monthly: Payments drawn once per month on your scheduled day
Choose the frequency that best matches your payday. Alignment matters: if your payments hit two days before payday, you're much more likely to overdraft, which triggers returned payment fees from both Progressive Leasing and your bank.
When Your First Payment Is Due
Your first recurring payment is scheduled for your next payday after item delivery. The lease-to-own program builds in a minimum 10-day gap between delivery and the first payment. If your next payday falls less than 10 days after delivery, the first payment is pushed to the following payday.
Your initial payment (paid at lease signing) is separate from your first recurring payment. The initial payment activates the lease and is charged to the credit or debit card you provide.
Automatic Payments (Default)
The program defaults to automatic payments. Payments are drawn from either:
- Your checking account (ACH): The routing and account numbers you provided at application
- Your debit or credit card: The card you used for the initial payment
Automatic payments are the recommended option because they eliminate the risk of missing a scheduled payment. Missed payments can result in returned payment fees, damage your standing with Progressive, and potentially affect your credit if the account becomes seriously delinquent.
Making One-Time Payments
In addition to your scheduled auto-payments, you can make one-time payments at any time. This is useful when you want to pay ahead, make an extra payment toward the balance, or execute an early purchase option. To make a one-time payment:
- Visit account.progleasing.com or open the It mobile app
- Log in with your The company credentials
- Navigate to the Payments tab
- Select "Make a payment"
- Choose the payment amount and payment method
- Confirm the payment
You can also make a one-time payment by phone with The LTO program's automated system or a customer service agent.
How one-time payments are applied
The application of one-time payments depends on payment method โ this is easy to miss and can lead to confusion:
- Payments made by card: Applied to your upcoming scheduled payment(s). If the payment covers your next scheduled payment, the auto-draft may not occur on the scheduled date.
- Payments made by ACH from a bank account: Applied to the remaining lease-to-own total. Your next scheduled auto-draft will still occur as scheduled โ the ACH payment is in addition to, not in place of, scheduled payments.
This distinction matters if you're trying to pay down the balance without accidentally accumulating a large payment overlap. If your goal is to pay off the lease early, do not simply make large one-time payments. Instead, call The service to execute the specific early purchase option that applies to your timing (90-day, 6-month, etc.).
Changing Your Payment Schedule
Life happens. If your payday changes or you need to adjust your payment schedule, contact The lease-to-own program customer service at least three business days before your next scheduled payment. The program can generally accommodate schedule changes as long as the request is made in advance.
What Happens If You Miss a Payment
A missed Progressive payment (usually caused by insufficient funds in your bank account or an expired card) triggers several consequences:
- Returned payment fee from The provider (varies by state)
- NSF or overdraft fee from your bank (typically $30โ$40)
- Attempted redraft by Progressive Leasing on a subsequent date
- Collections contact from Progressive Leasing if the payment cannot be recovered
- Potential credit bureau reporting if the account becomes seriously delinquent (typically 90+ days past due)
If you know a payment will bounce, call Progressive Leasing before the scheduled date. Progressive Leasing has more flexibility to work with you proactively than reactively.
Managing Your Account Online
Progressive Leasing's account management portal at account.progleasing.com and the Progressive Leasing mobile app give you access to:
- Current lease balance and payment history
- Upcoming payment schedule
- Total remaining lease-to-own cost
- Early purchase option amounts (90-day and beyond)
- One-time payment functionality
- Application status for new lease applications
- Digital copies of your lease-to-own agreement
Set up your online account immediately after signing your first Progressive Leasing lease. Waiting until you need to make a change is the worst time to figure out how the portal works.
Payment Method Changes
You can update your payment method (add a new card, change the bank account used for ACH) through your online account or by calling customer service. If your card expires or your bank account closes, update your payment method proactively to avoid a missed payment.
